Introduction

The website lifecycle model explains a website as a sequence of phases that form an ongoing process, rather than a one-off project. In real life, these phases tend to overlap and you can be working on activities from different ones at the same time.

The phases

• Preparation phase when you do your initial education and research
• Analysis and documentation phase when you examine business requirements and website requirements
• Resource selection phase when you make significant commitments
• Content creation phase when you start bringing together the words and other content
• Build website phase when designing, coding and programming occurs
• Test and launch phase when you ensure that everything works
• Management phase when you keep your site up to date and effective
