Text, graphics or images on a website that readers can click to see another web page or another part of the same page.

You can usually identify a link easily. Text links are often blue and underlined before you click, or purple and underlined when you have previously clicked on them during the same visit. Graphic and image links often have a caption with an instruction, such as Click, View or Enlarge.

Links are written in HTML code, which your web browser reads. Link code specifies the source page and the target, usually as the address (URL) of a web page or a specific location on a web page. Links can be set to open the target page in a new window or the current window.
