Simply Fabulous is a small boutique in the Perth suburb of Victoria Park.
They recently asked me to help them with their website, because the business and its offerings had changed since they launched it. My work included liaising with their website designer Ryan Briggs, doing some copywriting and editing and making changes to the site via its content management system.
It was a satisfying and interesting job that demonstrated three elements essential for the success of this type of project.
-
Client commitment. Simply Fabulous found time to discuss requirements, answer questions quickly and provide fast feedback about work in progress. When you’re serious about your online communication, it shows in the way you interact with your service providers.
-
Communication. Simply Fabulous, Ryan and I started with a "wish list" of things we could do, then collaborated to prioritise them and achieve a timely, cost-effective result. When people have a mindset of sharing ideas and drawing on each other’s skills, good things happen.
-
Content management system (CMS). When Simply Fabulous made the original investment in their website, they acquired an appropriate CMS. When you have a CMS with the flexibility and features to match your requirements, keeping your website in step with the current reality of your business is much simpler and more economical than it otherwise would be.
I’d also like to say that when retailers across Australia are talking doom and gloom, it’s refreshing to have a client like Simply Fabulous.
They’re unique for two reasons. One is their impressive collection of women’s fashion, jewellery and accessories, some of which is very difficult to find elsewhere. The other is their total commitment to winning and keeping customers’ loyalty with the kind of helpful, friendly service that many of us have forgotten ever existed.
